Terms of Service

Effective date: September 26, 2026

1. Who provides RideDat

RideDat is operated by Caullen Omdahl, based in Beaverton, Oregon, United States ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

These terms cover the RideDat app, website and related services. RideDat is an independent companion app for DatBike motorcycles. We are not Dat Bike Vietnam, and RideDat is not affiliated with or endorsed by the motorcycle manufacturer.

2. Your use of the app

Use RideDat lawfully, with bikes you own or are authorized to access. You must have legal capacity to agree to these terms, or the permission and involvement of a parent or legal guardian where the law allows. This permission does not authorize you to ride without meeting applicable age, licence and road-use requirements.

Do not access another person's bike or account without permission, defeat access controls, interfere with services, or upload unlawful content. These restrictions do not limit rights that applicable law gives you.

3. Safe use

Stop safely before interacting with the app or changing bike settings. Check your surroundings before commands such as locking, unlocking or sounding the horn, and confirm the result on the bike. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and local road rules.

Battery readings, range estimates, diagnostics, alerts and records may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. They are advisory, not safety instruments, emergency services or professional repair advice. Do not rely on RideDat as your only means of accessing, securing or assessing your bike. Leaderboards are not an invitation to speed or ride unsafely.

Full battery shutdown disconnects the battery contacts. After using this control, you must connect the bike to a charger to turn it back on. Use it only when safely parked with a suitable charger available.

4. Compatibility and test builds

Features depend on your bike, firmware, phone, permissions and app version. Test builds may have faults, lose records or change during testing. We do not promise compatibility with every configuration, uninterrupted availability, or delivery of roadmap features. Save important records separately where export is available.

Accepting these terms does not authorize firmware installation or safety-critical modifications. Any such feature needs its own explanation and explicit confirmation before use. RideDat does not decide or guarantee a manufacturer's warranty coverage.

5. Accounts, passwords and data

Protect your phone, sign-in credentials and bike passwords. Share access only with people you authorize, and contact us if you suspect account misuse. You are responsible for actions you authorize; you are not automatically responsible for every unauthorized action through your account.

Cloud sync is optional. When enabled, saved bike passwords may be backed up in reversible, obfuscated form for restoration; this is not end-to-end encryption. Public leaderboard participation is optional. The Privacy Policy explains data handling and choices. Agreeing to these terms is not blanket consent to optional data processing.

You can stop using RideDat at any time. Use the in-app Delete Account option or the account deletion page to request deletion. Account deletion and clearing data on your phone are separate actions.

6. Other services and ownership

Bluetooth, Android, app stores, sign-in providers and manufacturer services affect feature availability. Separate third-party terms may apply when you use those services. We remain responsible for our own legal obligations.

RideDat and its materials belong to their respective rights holders. You retain your rights in your own content and data. We may process what you submit only as needed to provide the features you choose and as explained in the Privacy Policy. Open-source components remain subject to their own licences.

7. Changes, restrictions and ending service

We may make reasonable changes for maintenance, security, legal requirements or product development. We will give reasonable advance notice of material reductions or service closure where practicable, and preserve any remedies required by law.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risks or legal obligations. Restrictions should be proportionate. Unless urgent action or law prevents it, we will explain the reason and allow you to contact us for review. Restriction does not remove your data-protection rights.

8. Your rights and disputes

Nothing here excludes or limits consumer guarantees, compensation rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. These terms contain no blanket waiver of liability for injury, damage or data loss.

Oregon law governs these terms, subject to mandatory protections under the law that otherwise applies to you, including applicable Vietnamese consumer law. This does not require you to bring a claim in Oregon or waive access to a competent court or authority. Contact us with a complaint; doing so does not restrict your other remedies.

9. Updates to these terms

We will explain material changes and their proposed effective date before they apply, with any consent required by law. Changes do not retrospectively remove accrued rights. If you do not accept a change, you may stop using the affected service and request account deletion, without losing any remedy the law provides.
